My own career in men's wear began unassumingly in 1964 as a college job at the Frank Leonard University Shop, one of the finest men's shops in Baltimore at that time. (Frank Leonard was the "Ivy League" icon.) By the time the Peacock Revolution was in full swing a few years later, transforming conventional men's wear pieces into fashion items, I was hooked.
As Manager of Stonehenge Limited, I was part of an exciting, upscale boutique with the distinction of being the first in Baltimore to introduce cutting-edge men's fashions from Europe and New York. Never satisfied, I soon opened my own shop, Threadneedle Street, which fused the best elements of current fashion and traditional men's wear styling. As my career evolved, I was offered the opportunity to represent a number of fine apparel lines, and in 1982, my wife Ellen joined me in the wholesale business.
Samuel Parker Clothier came about because I sensed a need for traditional, quality men's apparel in Baltimore. In short, I could not find the type of clothing and lines that I like to wear. With my own experience as well as the family history in fine haberdashery, Samuel Parker is exceptionally suited to fill this niche. Today, Samuel Parker Clothier is a reflection of my years of experience, unique sense of style and dedication to quality products.
